We are a group of teenagers seeking to know God, grow in our relationship with Him, encourage each other and serve our world. The gospel is central to our study times, because through it we experience the love of God, are transformed, build authentic relationships and are given Jesus' heart for our world.
There are several activities and events throughout the year that help us grow, build friendships, and serve God.
7:00-9:00 pm Fridays
All junior high students (6-8th grade) are invited to join us. The leaders this year will be John Cuozzo, and Doran and Christina Abel. We will be playing games, learning about Christians around the world, studying God's Word together, and reaching out to our friends. You'll find our current schedule here. If you would like more information contact John at jwcuozzo @ verizon.net.
6:00-8:30 pm Sundays
This is a time when we gather together in a warm, accepting, fun environment to grow in our relationship with God and each other. These evenings include times to socialize and have fun while we learn how to integrate God’s truths into our lives regardless of where we are on our faith journeys. Many caring adults help this happen. You'll find our current schedule here. If you would like more information contact Tom Morris at Tom @ westgate-church.org.
Junior High and Senior High students plan our own monthly activities with the youth staff. These are times to build relationships and invite friends. Past activities have included: mini-golf, Six Flags, beach day, cookouts, lazer tag, scavenger hunts and service projects.
Times away together are often instrumental in deepening relationships both with God and each other. The senior high plans their own retreat in New Hampshire each year. Both the Junior High and Senior High join hundreds of youth at Camp Berea for a winter retreat.
These are small life-on-life groups where we acquire skills to build our spiritual lives, encourage each other and talk about the issues that confront us in our personal lives. Dedicated and caring adults lead these groups for young men and young women.
Separate classes are offered for junior high and senior high students. The teaching in these forty-five minute classes at 9:30 am on Sundays complements the teaching which takes place during the youth group. These classes offer the foundational building blocks for our spiritual lives.
We have often found that our short-term mission experiences are the most life-changing as we step out beyond our comfort zone and trust God to use us in the lives of others. While we serve others in a variety of ways, we usually receive more than we give as we rub shoulders with children, youth and adults from different cultures. Last summer we helped build homes with Habitat for Humanity in a tornado ravaged neighborhood in Tuscaloosa Alabama. This summer we will be serving in Haiti, our favorite place of ministry.
